1945: WW2 intelligence report of the development of jet engines in Germany

CIOS: Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee:

Investigation of Activities of William Prym, Stolberg and Zweifall [Rhineland, Germany].

London: HMSO, October 1944. FIRST EDITION.

10" x 7.5". 37 pages of printed typewriter-face text including 18 figures and printed photographs.

The William Prym organisation had been engaged in the development of a hollow turbine blade for the Jumo 004 jet engine. The report understands the importance of the work in the German jet fighter program and states that 'knowledge of the German accomplishment ... will assist in evaluating similar proposals relating to engines manufactured by us'.

In nice condition, as issued, faint inoffensive library stamp on front cover. Protected in an archival clear plastic sleeve.

Following the Normandy landings in 1944, combined American and British intelligence units (CIOS) working under SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied European Forces) produced a series of surveys and reports on captured German industry and armament production as allied troops advanced across occupied Europe.

Printed in small numbers for a restricted circulation, this military intelligence report, containing material unpublished elsewhere, seldom comes onto the market.
